with the use of wall ropes and handles, as well as other complimentary props
such a the chair, blocks and belt.
About this guide
Yoga Kurunta is a method of performing a variety of asanas with the help of a rope to enable the student to attain accuracy, agility and balance. This guide is presented to illustrate the use of wall ropes and how they can be used with some basic asanas as well as some more advanced asanas.
The system of wall ropes used in this practice guide, was inspired by the original design of B.K.S. Iyengar. Students will notice some asanas in the practice guide require additional hooks – that is between the floor and middle level hook, and between the middle and top hook. We, as teachers found this design of the wall rope system to be very useful and easy to operate. The additional levels of support serve many purposes for which the grilles found at the RIMYI in Pune are used.
